The physics of bolting a radar to a drone are brutal. You have a massive heat load from the electronics, zero internal airflow because the box has to be weather-sealed against rain and mud, and strict weight limits because every gram kills flight time. On top of that, the drone shakes violently. If your housing flexes even a fraction of a millimeter under that vibration, the antenna array loses phase coherence and the radar goes blind.

The entire physical reality of the sensor. You figure out how to dump the heat, isolate the vibration, and seal the unit. You also have to pick the right RF-transparent plastics for the radome — if you spec the wrong material, it absorbs the mmWave energy and we block our own signal.

You cannot just live in a CAD. You will build the electromechanical test rigs to prove your designs actually work. That means you need to know enough basic code to run the rigs, enough PCB design to spin up your own test boards, and how to use a soldering iron. If your design requires a technician to spend 30 minutes with tweezers routing a coax cable, it is a failure. It has to go together fast.

We do not care about your degree. Show us the tightest, hardest electromechanical system you have built with your own hands. We want to see how you handled physical margins, thermal bottlenecks, and cable routing in a tiny space. If you just toss SolidWorks files to a machine shop and wait two weeks for parts, you will not survive here. We design a housing on Monday, machine or print it on Tuesday, and fly it on Wednesday.
